What is ozone cleaning?
An industrial ozone generator floods the property with ozone, which breaks down the smoke and nicotine molecules that ordinary cleaning only moves around. It reaches the air, the soft furnishings and the gaps a cloth never touches, so the smell is removed at source rather than masked. The room is sealed during treatment, with no people or pets inside, then ventilated before you go back in.
Does it actually remove the smell or just mask it?
It removes it. Air fresheners and standard cleans cover cigarette odour for a day or two and then it returns, because the smoke has soaked into curtains, carpets, walls and the air itself. Ozone oxidises those odour molecules so there is nothing left to come back. We pair it with a wash of the tar and nicotine film on hard surfaces, which is the other half of the job.
How long does it take, and can we be in the property?
A single room is usually a couple of hours including the ozone cycle and ventilation. A whole flat is a half day. The property must be empty of people and pets while the ozone runs, which is why we plan it around an empty changeover or move-out window. We confirm the timing when we quote.
How much does a smoke and nicotine clean cost?
From £70 for a single room and from £100 for a one to two bed flat. Larger homes or heavy long-term nicotine go to a quick quote because the treatment time and the amount of surface washing vary. We give you the number before we start, confirmed on a short call.
Can you add it to a deep clean or end of tenancy clean?
Yes, and most people do. As an add-on to a Deep Clean or End of Tenancy clean it is from £100, because the property is already being cleaned top to bottom and the ozone treats the whole place at once. Tick the ozone add-on on the booking form, or mention it in your enquiry.
Will it remove tar and nicotine staining on the walls?
Ozone clears the smell. The yellow-brown tar film on walls, ceilings and around light fittings is a separate, physical job: we wash it back with sugar soap as part of the treatment. Very heavy staining on porous paint sometimes needs a stain-block primer and repaint, which is a decorating job we will flag rather than over-promise.
