Father's Day gift Glasgow dads actually want: a patio clean

Skip the whisky and the helicopter ride. A BBQ-prep patio clean, booked 48 hours out, is the Father's Day gift that lasts the whole Glasgow summer.

Father's Day gift Glasgow dads actually want: a patio clean

The Father's Day gift Glasgow dads actually want costs you nothing in faff, gives him a BBQ-ready outdoor space for the rest of the summer, and lands within 48 hours of you booking. We treat the patio slabs, the BBQ, the garden furniture and the bin store as one single job. You hand over a printable card on the day, we turn up the morning after, and the first sunny Saturday is ready to go. No vouchers gathering dust. No experience days that need three diaries to align.

Below is exactly how the gift works, what we tackle in what order, how much lead time we need, and why this is the one Father's Day gift in Glasgow that lasts past lunchtime.

Why is a patio clean the Father's Day gift Glasgow dads actually want?

Three reasons. It solves a job he has been quietly putting off since October, it lands in time for the first proper BBQ weekend, and unlike a Loch Lomond whisky bottle or a Stór gift, a clean patio is still doing its job in August.

Most of the dads we cleaned for last June told their partners afterwards that they had been meaning to pressure-wash the slabs since they finished work on the house in spring. None of them had got round to it. That is the gap a gift like this fills, the unglamorous job a dad keeps writing on a mental list and never reaching.

What does a BBQ-prep garden and patio clean actually cover?

We treat the patio, the BBQ itself, the garden furniture and the bin area as a single job, in that order. Patio first so the run-off has somewhere to go before furniture goes back on it, then BBQ, then furniture and bins as quick wins once the heavy work is done.

  • Patio slabs and pointing: a stiff brush, a degreaser pass, and a rinse. We do not pressure-wash sandstone or older Caithness flags by default because it lifts the surface; we hand-scrub those.
  • Decking: a wood-safe cleaner, a light scrub along the grain, then a rinse. Algae in the gaps comes out with a thin blade by hand.
  • BBQ grill plates, drip tray and the inside of the lid: we strip the grates, soak them in a hot degreaser, and scrub the firebox so the next ignition does not smoke out the garden.
  • Garden furniture: metal frames get the rust line on the underside of chairs degreased and dried. Rattan gets a soft brush plus a soapy rinse. Cushion covers, if they unzip, go through a quick wash on the hob.
  • Bin store and wheelie bins: a sluice with disinfectant, the lids and handles wiped, and the slabs underneath cleaned where the bin juice has pooled.
  • Glass and patio doors from the outside: a quick streak-free pass so the view from the kitchen lands well when he opens the curtains.

How much lead time does the ScrubClub team need to book a Father's Day clean?

48 hours from booking to a clean on the calendar. Book by Friday morning and we can be on site Sunday for Father's Day itself, with one buffer day baked in to swap slots if the forecast turns.

In practice the Father's Day weekend books up fast. The last two slots in June 2025 went on the Wednesday before. If you are reading this on the Thursday or Friday before the day, message the booking form anyway, we keep one slot held back specifically for late gift bookings.

Which four spots does our team always tackle first on a BBQ-prep clean?

Last June we booked 23 garden and patio cleans as Father's Day gifts across the West End, Southside and Bearsden. The same four spots came up every single time as the parts that needed the most work, and the parts the dad noticed first when he walked out.

  1. The BBQ grill plate. After a Glasgow winter under a cover, the fat hardens into a black crust that sticks to anything it touches. This is always job one.
  2. The patio slabs at the foot of the doors. The bit you walk on first, and the bit that has had eight months of rain throwing dirt against it. Algae and lichen lift in one degreaser pass plus a stiff brush.
  3. The underside and feet of metal garden chairs. The rust line is the giveaway that the furniture has been left out. We degrease, dry, and put a thin coat of protector on the feet so the next rain does not start it back up.
  4. The bin store slab. Bin juice pools in the corner of the slab and stinks the moment the sun hits it. Five minutes with hot water and disinfectant resets it for the year.

The most common surprise reaction last June, on the dad's part, was a phone call to the daughter or son who booked it asking who had cleaned the BBQ. They had not noticed the patio yet. They had walked straight to the grill.

How much does a one-off garden and patio clean cost in Glasgow?

We price exterior one-offs on the same flat per-property-size model as our One-off Deep Clean, so you see a live quote on the booking form before you pay anything. Most Father's Day gift cleans last June landed between £140 and £220, depending on the size of the patio and whether the BBQ was a small kettle or a six-burner with side oven.

If you want to scope it before booking, our one-off deep clean page has the per-property-size rates and the full scope, and the booking form quote auto-adjusts when you add the BBQ and furniture lines.

Can you book it as a surprise without the dad finding out?

Yes, and most of the gift bookings we take are exactly this. Use the recipient's address on the booking form, but put your own phone and email in the contact fields, and leave a note in the comments box asking us to coordinate by phone or text to you rather than to the recipient.

On the morning of the clean we ring you 30 minutes out, you pop round (or hand over a key the night before), and we are in and out within two to three hours depending on the size of the garden. Most of the dads we cleaned for last June were at the pub or at the football and walked back to a finished patio they had no idea was coming.

What if it pours on Father's Day weekend in Glasgow?

We watch the forecast from the Thursday on. If the booked slot has sustained rain through the window we have, we contact you on the Friday and offer the next dry slot, free of charge.

The only weather we cannot work around is sustained heavy rain on a windy day, which is why we ask for 48 hours of buffer rather than 24. In four Junes of doing this, we have only had to reschedule four gift cleans, and every one of those landed within seven days of Father's Day.

Is a patio clean really a better gift than the standard Glasgow Father's Day ideas?

Honestly, it depends on the dad. For the larger group of Glasgow dads who own a BBQ, own a garden, and grumble about the slabs every spring, the clean is the better gift on three measures: it costs about the same as a mid-tier whisky, it removes a chore he was going to have to do anyway, and it sets up the rest of his summer.

If you want a sense of the standard we work to indoors before booking the outdoor version, our Glasgow move in cleaning checklist walks through the exact spec we hold ourselves to on a one-off, and the patio version follows the same logic outside.

How do you actually book it?

Two minutes on the booking form. Pick One-off Deep Clean, add a comment saying "Father's Day gift, BBQ-prep, garden and patio", give us the recipient's address and your own phone for coordination, and you get a live quote on screen plus a printable gift card emailed over.

We are the same Glasgow team since 2019, fully insured, and we have done eight years of cleaning across Glasgow tenements, short lets and family homes. If you want to read what Glasgow customers say before you book, our Google reviews are linked from the home page footer.

If you would rather have a look at the rest of what we cover before booking, get a quote in 60 seconds on the booking form and we will hold the slot while you decide on the day.
